What kind of a pen name is MoosaBhai ?

2009. It was near the end of the decade. “Bollywood” was still getting “inspired” by Hollywood movies – and the audience lapped it up, almost every single time. Keep in mind we didn’t have the OTT overload back then – no Netflix, nothing.

A clueless, underachieving and slightly unkempt college going student just downloaded a movie called ‘LUCK’ – In case you’re wondering – that was me & yes im sorry for pirating movies 13 years back – my moral compass has strengthened over time. I now pirate only foriegn movies. Why give losses to Indian film makers ? Desh bhakti ftw.

So back to ‘Luck’ a.ka. ‘Condemned’ made in Hindi. If you think hard enough about it – Squid Games is kind of copied from Luck. One line summary for both equates to : Millionaire orchestrates a series of ‘games’ with all the contestants desperate to win money.

Long story short – the antagonist in this “movie” is Moosa Bhai (Sanjay Dutt)- who happens to have mind blowing luck. Sanju baba’s character is like Musafir (Billa) on steroids. Between wooden expressions and overly dramatic shots showcasing the luckiness of side characters here is Moosa bhai entering practically every other scene on a helicoptor, 4 bodyguards in tow , cool background music with a slow motion walk – my teenage mind couldnt fathom this level of cool.

So when i was setting up my Steam Account – i couldn’t think of a cooler or luckier son of a bitch to name my digital avatar after. Moosa Bhai was born – and funnily it stuck. Its like those mistakes you do in your teenage years which haunt you throughout your adult life.

On that very abrupt note ( research shows – that people read less, and even lesser if its a long wall of text , go figure! ). Until next time!
